Why We Started Iron Horse

Back in 2011, our founder was helping a neighbor replace their roof after yet another Vermont winter did a number on the asphalt shingles. While tearing off the old roof, he noticed something interesting — the few houses in the neighborhood with standing seam metal roofs? They looked practically new, even ones from the 1980s.

That got him thinking. Why does everyone default to asphalt when metal clearly lasts longer, looks better, and handles our weather better? The answer, of course, was that most roofers don't want to deal with metal. It requires different tools, different training, and honestly, a higher level of craftsmanship.

So he learned how to do it right. Hired people who cared as much as he did. And Iron Horse was born.

Twelve years and 500+ roofs later, we're still doing things the right way. No shortcuts. No cheap materials. No crews we haven't trained ourselves. Just solid roofs done the way they should be.
